Tree Planting Instructions

Tree Planting

Plan Before You Plant

Tree placement can significantly impact your energy costs:

·   Shading an air conditioner will reduce it’s operating costs

·   Shading your roof, walls and windows can reduce heat build up in the summer

·   Wind breaks will reduce heating costs by diverting winter winds

Tree Planting Instructions

1. Dig a shallow, broad planting hole

2. Place the tree at a height so the trunk flare is partially visible

3. Straighten the tree. Pack soil firmly around the root ball with water to remove any air pockets. Be sure to cut the string or wire from the burlap bag

4. Mulch the base of the tree

5. Soak the soil at planting. After, keep the soil moist, watering at least once a week
